Power Apps : Your own business application for finally replacing paper-based information and multiple data capture was simply very expensive and time consuming. With Power Apps, Microsoft has provided us with a tool that is finally worth considering for our own business applications.
In this part of the Power Apps series (Power Apps) I will introduce you to the repair application we have developed. But first I will briefly explain what Power Apps really are and who can access them.
WHAT EXACTLY IS POWERAPPS?
Power Apps is part of the Office365 suite. It’s available as a Power Apps Plan 1 under a business license. If you do not have Office 365, Power Apps Plan 1 can also be purchased separately. Power Apps Plan 2 is available for further features, several custom connectors, and more.

With Power Apps, you can create “model-controlled applications” or so-called “Canvas applications”. At some point I will explain to you what exactly a canvas application is. I will then go into the “model-driven application” in a later article.

What is a canvas application?
Without having to write code in a traditional programming language like C #, it is now possible to create an industry-specific canvas application.
(Well, once you want a more complex application, you have the great advantage of having programming skills.)
The canvas application is primarily used as a graphical user interface (GUI) for recording, editing, or displaying SharePoint data, spreadsheets in Excel, SQL databases, and so on. This list is certainly not exhaustive, as it can cover situations such as meeting appointments, managing people, recording orders, recording vacation requests, recording receipts, and more.
Canvas app can be created for mobile or desktop devices. It may also be available to users directly in SharePoint, Power BI, or in Microsoft teams.
Who can access Power Apps?
An application created with Power Apps can be used by anyone in your company’s Azure Active Directory and with whom the application is shared.
REPAIR APPLICATION
So now we come to the part where we talk about the middle ground. A short time ago, I had the privilege of developing a property management application for the properties you manage for a client in the real estate industry.
Starting position
So far, the guards have noticed the defects on the paper. Then they took care of the repair or called the appropriate service point. As soon as the defective item was repaired, the case was closed. As a result, it was not possible for the office to review in particular current and past repairs (for example, the distribution of invoices from such orders), nor to create statistics or have a viable replacement solution.
For this reason, we were instructed to develop an application with Power Apps in order to improve future handling and digital recording of data.
Solution
In order to meet the needs of the client, a solution was developed with Power Apps and SharePoint Online. Guardians can use the app to track damage to relevant property (text, photos, etc.). Then track open cases, update status, assign service company, add repair date, etc.
In addition, all companies serving as service points can be recorded and contact details saved. The new solution with the repair application also provides the administration with an overview of all repair cases, whether open or closed. Because the data is in a SharePoint list, it can be easily exported to Excel and generated statistics.

As for the repair application, this means that when the settlement is selected, only the properties of the selected settlement are available for selection – the so-called cascading falling.
